Bobby D. Caldwell

Bobby D. Caldwell, 86, of Deer Creek, went home to be with the Lord at 5:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018. He was a resident at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi.

Born July 21, 1931, in Logansport, he was the son of Glay and Mamie (Davis) Caldwell. He married the love of his life, Kathrynn R. Featherstone, on Feb. 27, 1955; she preceded him in death June 27, 2014.

Bobby was a lifelong farmer in Deer Creek. He was also a machinist and retired from Matthew Warren Spring in 2008.

He was a member of Deer Creek Presbyterian Church in Deer Creek.

Bobby enjoyed airplanes, building model airplanes, hot air ballooning, and attending air shows. He also enjoyed bird watching and big band music. His family was his life. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During the Korean Conflict, he served his country in the Air Force.

Surviving are his children, David B. Caldwell (Carla), Dewitt, Mich., Kathy Elery (Joe), Lebanon, and Patricia K. Cunningham, Delphi; six grandchildren, Gabriel and Evan Caldwell, Chelsey Elery, Emily Green (Dustin), Quincy Cunningham (Ann) and Abby Cunningham; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beverly Hess of Logansport.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother James; son-in-law David Cunningham; and great-grandson Jacoby.

Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Pastor Harry Roselle officiating. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery, Young America. Visitation will be two hours before the service from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to Deer Creek Presbyterian Church, St. Elizabeth Healthcare Resident Fund, Delphi, or the American Lung Association.
